One of the lovely things about having our own local craft breweries is their ability to (and enthusiasm for) creating short run seasonal brews. Sligo’s White Hag Brewery in Ballymote has created a delicious Christmas Ale to tempt you over the festive season. Look out for it in pubs and off licences.
As mentioned by John and Sally McKenna’s Christmas Beer Guide
You could say White Hag have brewed up a taste of home for Christmas – they’ve gone back to their roots in northeast Ohio and created a classic Christmas Ale typical of that area and massively popular all over the USA. They’ve taken a rich malty Red Ale, added honey, ginger, and cinnamon, and boosted the ABV a little to warm you up around the holidays. The result is a well balanced, medium bodied, malty spiced ale brewed to be drank not only on the holidays but for the coming years. Cinnamon, Ginger, and Honey are the seasonal additions to this wildly complex holiday beer giving it the signature NE Ohio flavour that has dominated the US Christmas Ale market since the early 90’s.
