Some of our brilliant Sligo Food Trail chefs had the pleasure of participating in Neven Maguires new programme, ‘Neven’s Seafood Trails’ which will air on Wednesday January 30th. In his new show, the award winning restaurant owner and perhaps one of Ireland’s best known chef’s, concentrates on the Wild Atlantic Way, as he sets out in the hopes of sourcing and cooking the highest quality seafood. Sligo was the focus of one of the episodes as we are lucky enough to have an array of exceptional fish, shellfish and sea vegetables available to us in the county.
Neven visited some local restaurants during his visit to Sligo including Anthony Gray’s Eala Bhán, staying for a while to cook with head chef Marcin Szczodrowski. He also paid a visit Anthony Grays’ vibrant seafood restaurant Hooked, in the heart of Sligo town. His journey then took him to the picturesque Mullaghmore to cook with Eithna O’Sullivan in her aptly named Seafood restaurant, Eithna’s By The Sea. Finally, he visited Aisling Kelly in the unique attraction and Irelands’ first Sligo Oyster Experience in WB’S Coffee Shop before taking a look at the oyster harvesting and packaging operation with Wild Atlantic Oysters.
The programme will be airing on RTE 1 on Wednesday, January 30th at 8.30pm. All of the recipes featured will be available after the show on the Bord Bia website. Be sure to tune in and enjoy this wonderful celebration and showcase of Sligo food.
