This summer outside dining is more important than ever before and Sligo Food Trail members have stepped up to the plate, offering lots of options both in Sligo Town and around the county. Between new decking, cheerful umbrellas and all sorts of creative transformations, Sligo Food Trail is most definitely open for business this summer.
In Sligo town, the riverside is looking fabulous and full of life. Eat outside at Osta Café and Wine Bar overlooking the water, where Bríd Torrades’ pancakes to go are proving a huge success. Across the Garavogue Anthony Gray is looking forward to seeing customers back at Hooked and Eala Bhán. Sweet Beat café has a brand new decking area where Carolanne Rushe is serving all their plant based specials while Walker 1781 is sporting stylish new outdoor furniture on O’Connell Street.
Around the county Sligo Food Trail members are ready for summer visitors too. Seaside favourite Eithne’s By the Sea in Mullaghmore is serving delicious seafood with a complimentary view of the beautiful briny. Just down the coast in Rosses Point, The Little Cottage Café is operating through their hatch and has a deli section too. In Tubbercurry, Cawley’s Guesthouse and Restaurant welcome you to their lovely and spacious walled terrace. You can also visit From the ground up 2020, with their newly opening outdoor seating area.

Pick up a picnic …
Picnics are a perennial summer favourite and most Sligo Food Trail members are offering takeaway options. If you’d like the ‘proper’ picnic experience, stop off at Pudding Row in Easkey where a traditional picnic hamper comes filled with delicious treats. They come in two sizes and the baskets must be returned when you’ve eaten your fill.
WBs Coffee House on Stephen Street, Sligo is ready for picnic afficionados too, with a cracking range of picnic box choices, both sweet and savoury. For a special occasion, Sligo Bay Oysters with a nice bottle of Chablis would definitely hit the spot.
Nook in Collooney is offering up some tasty themes with their picnic choices this summer. Go continental with picnic boxes based on Italian or French cuisine to get you in that holiday mood, or check out the Luxury Grazing Box, full to the brim with artisan cheeses, charcuterie, olives, and chutney.
The Saturday Markets are a great place to pick up picnic essentials too. Achonry Farmers Market, Beltra Country Market and Sligo Farmers Market all have quality food stands just waiting for you.
Anthony Gray will be busy this summer, from the 1st July, A Taste of Sligo, Food Tours reopens for business and he’s just started a new venture with chef Joe McGlynn. It’s Shaka Food Truck which you will find in Mitchell Curley Park from Wednesday to Sunday each week.
Please do check social media or directly with establishments before you visit them. Opening days and hours are changing more often than usual as regulations change and more normal service is being resumed. We don’t want you to be disappointed.
