Sligo Food Trail is proud to spearhead Taste the Island in Sligo. The new Fáilte Ireland programme celebrating Ireland’s seasonal ingredients, adventurous tastes and bold experiences takes place in September, October and November. It dovetails perfectly with Sligo Food Trail experiences and members have come up trumps with really creative and attractive food-related events. Details of the programme, which includes more than 600 food and drink-related events and experiences across the country, were revealed yesterday by Fáilte Ireland, the National Tourism Development Authority, and Irish TV Presenter Angela Scanlon.
The showcase Sligo Food Trail event is the eagerly anticipated Harvest Feast on Friday 18th October (further details, tickets available shortly). This is a true celebration of premium local food presented by top local chefs. The nine course gala dinner involving dozens of members was a resounding success last time around and is expected to sell out again this year.
Taste the Island Sligo style includes everything from foraging and fermenting to coffee cupping, creative cooking, bee keeping and butter making. It’s a combination Taste of Place, Meet the Maker and Make it Yourself events which are sure to attract visitors from all over the country. Full details from the Sligo Food Trail will be released shortly.
