Taste the Island events on Sligo Food Trail
Sligo Food Trail is proud to spearhead Taste the Island in Sligo. The new Fáilte Ireland programme celebrating Ireland’s seasonal ingredients, adventurous tastes and bold experiences takes place in September, October and November. It dovetails perfectly with Sligo Food Trail experiences and members have come up trumps with really creative and attractive food-related events.
Below is the calendar of events from our 2019 celebration, watch this space for our 2020 events.

Harvest Feast
Sligo Food Trail is delighted to announce our flagship event, the Harvest Feast which takes place on Friday 18th October 2019. This significant gastronomic event is part of Taste The Island, the international Fáilte Ireland initiative. Sligo Food Trail Harvest Feast consists of a sumptuous nine course tasting menu, each specially created by one of Sligo’s top chefs collaborating with artisan producers. The gala banquet will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa and numbers are strictly limited. MC for the evening will be RTE celebrity chef Shane Smith.
Ireland’s Earliest Takeaway: A Sea Trail with Shellfish & Sea Shells

Experienced archaeologist Auriel Robinson is your guide on this walking trail, where you will get to taste the fruits of the Atlantic, Mussels cooked on the shore on front of an ancient shell midden by Anthony Gray.
Seaweed Cookery Demonstration with Chef Eithna O’Sullivan

Renowned for her incorporation of seaweed throughout her menu, Eithna O’Sullivan is offering an introduction to cooking with seaweed in her cookery school.
Sweet Beat Adventure Picnic with Your Wellbeing Warrior

The Dirty Dozen is a list of the 12 fruits and vegetables that contain the highest concentrations of pesticides, which the Environmental Working Group recommends buying organic.
