The Chef’s Table

Selected Fridays and Saturdays in October 2023

Calling all foodie folk – look what Chef Marcin has created. It’s a series of tasting menus carefully curated by Ocean Sands’ wonderful award-winning Head Chef, Marcin Szczodrowski. It’s a seven-course extravaganza to tantalise your taste buds – an explosion of taste.

The Chef’s Table takes place on selected Fridays and Saturdays in October 2023 and can be booked as part of a special overnight package and non-residents are also welcome. It’s in the Atlantic Room overlooking the sea and consists of a seven-course banquet and a welcome aperitif. Be warned though, you’ll need to book quickly as this is an intimate event with limited seats available on each date.

Chef Marcin has made quite an impact on the Irish culinary scene and has built a stellar reputation since he moved here from his native Poland 15 years ago. This new tasting menu is very much based on his twin passions of local and seasonal products. The quality of Irish ingredients consistently amazes Marcin, who revels in working with them. He is strongly committed to working with seasonal products and detests the jarring impact of out-of-season elements on menus.

He is staying coy about the exact menus he will present but we got a sneak peak and some potential dishes are a seasonal Saddle of Venison served in Blackberry Juice with Caramelised Autumn Vegetables, Pommes Purée and a Bacon Foam or Pan Fried Halibut with Citrus Butter, Kale Crisps and Minted Pea Purée. Knowing Marcin, local shellfish will make an appearance on the menu too.

Chef Marcin is no stranger to awards in his career and having struck gold at both the Irish Hotel Awards and the Yes Chef Awards as well as reaching the finals of the prestigious Gold Medal Awards in the Chef of the Year category. He has brought all his fine dining flair to the Ocean Sands and is proudly presenting five-star food at this four-star hotel.

Price:

  •  The cost for The Chef’s Table is €68 per person or from €299* for two people including bed and breakfast. Tables of two and four are available.

(* Friday night €299, Saturday night €319 for two people sharing, The Chef’s Table dinner, bed and breakfast)
